Residents across Erewash are being urged to register their right to vote through the thousands of reminder forms that will be delivered across the borough from this weekend.
Just over 50,000 forms were sent out at the beginning of October asking residents to check their details and make any necessary changes.
So far 48 per cent have been returned - which means that around 26,000 households will receive reminders.
Cllr Carol Hart, Erewash Borough Council’s deputy leader, said: “We would urge people to respond immediately if they receive a reminder over the next week or so.
“If they again fail to return the form, or to register their details by phone or online, our canvassers will visit the household to try to confirm details.”
Residents who have no changes to make can register their vote by phone, internet or freepost.
