Residents needing financial help this festive season are being urged to contact the Erewash Credit Union (ECU).

The ECU, which is a not-for-profit financial co-operative operating like a community bank, is based in a ground floor unit at the former Co-op department store in Ilkeston town centre and can offer loans from as little as £500 up to £5,000.

It also offers a range of financial advice.

Cllr Carol Hart said: “We know how difficult this time of year can be for families and that debt is a worrying and devastating problem. We strongly advise anyone who needs a little help, especially in the run-up to Christmas and New Year, to get in touch with the Credit Union.

“They are there to help.”
