The secretary of Ilkeston’s Rotary Club took part in a charity run earlier this month in memory of a former club President.
Andrea Garlick raised more than £200 for Cancer Research after she ran the Race for Life at Holme Pierrepont in memory of ‘well loved and sadly missed Ilson lad’ John Richardson, who died from cancer earlier this year.
Andrea took part in the race with colleagues at Ilkeston Registry Office, Julie Bailey and Sue Walton, who ran in memory of her dad Geof Benson.
“Working at the registration office and dealing with bereaved families, all the registrars are aware how cancer impacts not only those with the illness, but family and friends as well,” she said.
All three registrars said they will take part in another Race for Life next year.
John Richardson owned Avenger Taxis in Ilkeston and had been a Rotarian for many years.
