SATs success for pupils

staff, parents and pupils have been ‘overwhelmed’ by SATs results success at an Ilkeston primary school.

Granby Juniors headteacher, Brian Allsopp, said: “I am extremely proud, these are the best results we’ve ever had at Granby Junior School – I am sure that everyone will share in our joy that our children have done extremely well. It’s a fantastic achievement.”

Overall, the number of children achieving a level five in maths was 58 per cent. In English, 53 per cent of children achieved a level five. In writing, the school made a 20 per cent improvement in the number of children achieving a level-four plus compared to last year and reading results remained at a similar level to last year with 88% receiving a level-four plus.

All results were above the 2010 national average.
