School days remembered

Friendships first formed in the 1940s and ‘50s at Stapleford’s Arthur Mee Secondary School For Girls have been rekindled at a reunion.

More than 40 ‘old girls’, who attended when Miss B. McCarthy ruled the roost as headteacher, were present at St Michael’s Church in Bramcote.

Despite the passing of time everyone in attendance agreed that the former school was a ‘first class’ institution, which shaped the lives of many of the girls present.

“Times have changed so much but our memories of wonderful school days will live in our hearts forever, said organiser Hillary Brian, nee Exton.
