A competition to create a logo to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War has been won by a Awsworth school girl.
Cassidy Redgate, 10, won first prize in the Trent to Trenches competition which saw youngsters from Nottinghamshire invited to create a logo as part of a major programme of events and activities taking place in 2014.
Cassidy, a pupil at Awsworth Primary School, was presented with a framed print of her logo and a £50 Amazon voucher by Robin Hood (Tim Pollard).
She said: “I came up with the idea as I associate poppies with people fighting in wars and the River Trent is dedicated to the people of Nottinghamshire who long their lives in the First World War.
“I’m over the moon my design won and I’m sure my grandmothers will be as well.”
