SCOUTS in Ilkeston will be rolling up their sleeves this week to help out their community this weekend.
As part of Ilkeston Scouting’s centenary celebrations, the youngsters will be getting stuck in all over town during their Community Project Weekend.
The 21st group will be having a Big Picnic on Sunday with The Friends of Kirk Hallam Lake and Meadows..
It is a hands-on day for all the family to get involved with as they create new habitats for newts along with other maintenance jobs at the lake off Godfrey Drive from 10am.
Group leader Diane Harris said: “Come along and lend a hand with the digging and preparation of the area of the pond.”
The next event in the centenary calendar will be Ilkeston Carnival in the summer.
