Summer finally made an appearance at the weekend - and forecasters say this could be the start of a hot summer.

This weekend saw temperatures of a scorching 27C across the country but national sources say Britain is set for even more glorious sunshine.

Thermometers will rocket to 30C during the first half of this month with good weather set to continue until September.

Derbyshire is set for a week of sunshine with highs of 24C expected on Wednesday and Thursday.

Although the Met Office has been more restrained on the summer forecast, its three-month outlook agrees it could be warmer than normal through the summer.
