A POIGNANT service was held on Saturday to remember the victims of the Wellington Bomber disaster.
Freda Burton and Hillary Eddleston, the widow and daughter of Pilot Officer Ken Radford had travelled from Cumbria to pay their tribute.
Another relative of a victim travelled from the Netherlands to be at the service.
Freda, now 96, was just six weeks pregnant with Hilary when PO Radford’s plane came down over Stanley Common.
The Mayor of Erewash, Cllr Kevin Miller and Ken Foster, secretary of the Ilkeston branch of the Royal British Legion, were among those who placed a wreath in memory of the men that died on July 12 1942.
