Signs plan to help rid county of dog mess

A CAMPAIGN to help rid Derbyshire of dog mess is being re-launched by the county council.

Derbyshire County Council is providing weatherproof ‘Yuk!’ signs, which residents can display in a window or attach to gates and fences.

The signs are planned to act as a reminder to irresponsible dog owners to think of the health risks.

The council has reminded owners that dog mess can cause stomach upsets and headaches, and even asthma and blindness.

West Hallam’s Cllr Carol Hart is cabinet member for public health. She said: “As most owners know, it takes almost no time at all to clean up after your dog so we’re urging the irresponsible few to do the right thing for the benefit of their community.”

Signs are available from county council libraries or at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/yuk.
