Temporary roadside signs warning drivers and riders to look out for each other this winter have been put up in Erewash.

The reflective signs have been placed on roads with a history of crashes involving drivers and motorcyclists.

Half of the signs warn drivers to ‘Think Bike’ and the other half remind motorcyclists to filter with care when there’s queueing traffic.

Andy Adlington, motorcycle safety officer for Derby and Derbyshire Road Safety Partnership, said: “Countryside crashes involving motorcyclists tend to be caused by rider error - but in urban areas the blame tends to be more evenly split between drivers and the riders themselves.

“That’s why we’re appealing to both groups to look out for each other during the winter months when bad weather can increase the risk of crashes.”

The signs will remain in place until March.
