The rose garden of remembrance at Ebenezer Methodist Church, in Heanor Road, Ilkeston, is closing.

For more than 60 years, many families have scattered ashes of loved ones in and around the garden.

To mark its closure, a special service and tree planting has been arranged to take place at 10am on Saturday (August 13) at Park Cemetery, in Park Drive, Ilkeston.

There will also be a short service to remember loved ones and pray for all those who are bereaved.

Soil from the rose garden will be placed around the new tree.

Everyone is very welcome to join.

The planting will take place in the avenue down the hill from the main entrance, which can be reached by taking the path to the left of the chapels. Please bring a chair if you need to sit.

Ebenezer members would like to thank funeral directors GT Edwards Ltd for providing a small plaque and to Erewash Borough Council staff for their help and support.
