POLICE are facing a tall order to try and find the owner of these size 21 trainers found at a Long Eaton petrol station - officers predict their big-footed owner will stand at around 7ft.

The red and white Nike Basketball trainers were found brand new in the box a month ago.

Denise Bostock, who works in the property office at St Mary’s Wharf police station, Derby, has launched an appeal to find their owner.

She said: “I imagine it will be a Cinderella sort of moment if we find out who they belong to.

“If the slipper fits that’s it.”

Under normal circumstances unclaimed lost property is sent to the St Mary’s Wharf to be disposed of four weeks after it is handed in.

Most of the time it is donated to charity shops or auctionned off for charity.

Denise said: “When I got these I just thought of the troble someone must have gone to to get them ordered.

“They were on the desk in the property office and everyone that walked by kept commenting on them so I thought I should at least try and find the owner.”

If you are the shoe’s owner or know who is call Derbyshire police on 0345 1233333.
