Business chiefs have welcomed a slight drop in the number of unemployed people in Derbyshire.

There has been a dip in the amount of people claiming jobseekers’ allowance in the county, a new report has revealed.

Figures for March showed there were 15,143 on the benefit in Derbyshire, compared to 15,470 claimants the previous month.

Ian Greenaway, who is President of the
Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce said: “It is very positive news that the
claimant count is down in March, not only compared with February’s figure but also compared with March last year.”
