VILLAGERS have helped police catch speeding motorists as part of a community speedwatch scheme.
Residents joined Pc Russell Crooks from the Ilkeston Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team to catch out speeding drivers on Station Road, Stanley Village.
Pc Crooks said: “The community speed watch was carried out between 8.15am and 8.45am as this is when the road is at its busiest.
“A total of nine vehicles were recorded travelling between 35mph and 43mph in a 30mph zone.
“The drivers will now be sent a warning letter advising them of the speed they were travelling which will hopefully prevent them for breaking the limit in the area again.”
