STAFF at an Ilkeston shop dressed up in bright colours to launch the store’s charity for this year.

WIlkinsons, in Bath Street, raised £80 last weekend with staff dressing up in the colours which make up Age UK’s logo – blue, green, orange and purple.

But this year it’s not all about the money raised – Wilkinson’s staff have been asked to give up an hour a week to give a phone call to someone vulnerable or elderly in the community who would benefit from a chat in a bid to raise the profile of the charity.

Evening supervisor Andrea Elton explained: “We have vulnerable people coming in to the store everyday so it’s going to be great to be helping people on the doorstep.

“We’ve had a fantastic response from staff already.”

Wilkinson’s is running the charity drive all year long and hopes to raise £500,000 nationwide.
