Station finance bid

THE LEADER and deputy leader of the council’s Labour group are to call on the Tories to stump up cash for the plan to build a train station in Ilkeston tonight (Thursday).

Cllr Howard Griffiths and Cllr Frank Phillips are to present a motion asking for the council to ‘confirm its commitment’ to the plan and find cash to ‘progress this project as soon as practicable’ at the full Erewash Borough Council meeting in Long Eaton tonight.

The Advertiser revealed last month that Derbyshire County Council has hit financial setbacks in its bid for a station in the town.
