Students from Derby College experienced what it was like to spend some time in a police cell on a visit to Ilkeston Police Station.

Pc Russell Crooks from Ilkeston Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team took a group of students from the Broomfield Hall campus to visit Ilkeston’s custody suite.

Pc Crooks said: “The teenagers found it very interesting to see first hand what the cells are like.

“One of the students commented how small the cells were and how cold it was.

“I think it is important to keep in touch with teenagers and explain to them the consequences of crime.

“It was an education for the students, some of who have an ambition to become police officers.”
