PUPILS from Awsworth Primary School made a song and dance about the arrival of teachers from their Mexican partner school by putting on a special assembly.

Teachers, Claudia Flores Torres and Eva Triana Ramos, are visiting the school for a week as part of a linking project which is giving children from Awsworth and their partner school Escuela Primaria Veinte de Noviembre in Saltillo, Mexico, the chance to learn about each others’ cultures.

Headteacher Jane Mainprize and project leader Ian Baxter undertook a visit to the school in Mexico earlier this year and set up a video conference using Skype so that children in both schools could talk directly to each other.

Mrs Mainprize said:”It’s a truly amazing thing, to be able to see and talk to our pupils at home some 6,000 miles away, and for them to be able to see and talk to the children in Mexico.”
