TEACHERS in Kimberley began their strike action this week to oppose academy status.
Members of the National Teachers Union took to the picket line on Tuesday of this week for the first of three days of strike action.
The NUT decided to strike following the news that the school would become an academy last month.
Members are concerned the move could mean a change in pay and conditions for staff and detrimental changes to how the school operates.
Headteacher Chris Teal remains adamament he will not alter the terms and conditions, but the NUT says he will not be around forever and the move leaves uncertainty hanging over the school for the future.
The school was open to year seven, ten and the sixth form and Mr Teal said exams were not interrupted.
Teachers will strike again later this month on June 13 and 14.
