This Bank Holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity to head out with your camera and grab a snap to enter into our brilliant photographic competition, Specsavers Life Thru the Lens.
We staged the contest in conjunction with Specsavers of Bath Street, Ilkeston for the first time last year and it was a huge success.
So it was a clearcut decision whether or not to run it again this year.
And once again we have joined forces with Specsavers to offer a top digital camera, worth hundreds of pounds, as the top prize.
Now all that is left is for you to take a look at our rules (SEE RIGHT) and then grab your camera or smartphone and get out and about in the area to take your snaps.
The subject you choose is up to you but it must have a clear link to Ilkeston or the local area.
One of our first entries is the one above taken by 14-year-old Bradie Hall, of Cotmanhay and features Cossall Hill.
Now follow Bradie’s lead and take part yourself.
Your photo could be an image that captures our industrial past, a shot of an eye catching green space, local wildlife or even a local sporting occasion.
The only real limit is your ambition and imagination.
The next step is to email or post your entry to us with certain details.
The competition will run for several months to allow you to take advantage of the changing seasons and there are no age restrictions.
Once we close the entries a team of judges will sift through all the brilliant photographs and narrow them down to ten finalists before deciding on the winner.
There will then be a presentation night at the Specsavers store where all the finalists’ images will be exhibited.
Ilkeston Specsavers director Krishna Parmar said: “We were delighted with how things went last year. There were some stunning photos entered and I can’t wait to see this year’s.”
