SUPERMARKET managers were looking a little green after spending Friday sat in a huge bowl of mushy peas.

Staff including store manager Gavin Pike, took turns in the paddling pool of peas from 10am to 4pm to raise just under £300 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Gavin said: “It went really well.

“It wasn’t nice though – we’ve no shower facilities here so we had to make do with what we could find in the cleaning cupboard.”

Throughout last week Tesco hosted raffles and fundraising competitions, as well as four brave men having a sponsored leg and chest wax.

The money raised will help to fund new research, as well as a Dementia Community Roadshow, which will visit Tesco stores across the UK from June offering advice and support about dementia.

The peas were supplied by Lockharts.
