After a record-breaking turnout last year, the Awsworth ‘Party On The Rec’ is to be bigger and better this year, according to the organiser.
The annual event, now in its eigth year, is a family fun day full of entertainment, stalls, bars and music held at the Awsworth Recreation Ground and this year is on Saturday July 5.
Kurt Whitten, organiser and creator of the event, said he believes it will be bigger than before.
He added: “We are always trying to make it bigger and better than before, every year, and this time we believe it is going to be.
“We have some amazing arena stuff on offer, we have bands and performers and headlining is Ultimate Madness, the country’s best Madness tribute act.
“One thing to stress this year is that you can’t bring your own alcohol, but you can still drink at the bars in the event.
“It has upset us all a bit, but we hope that we are going to work through this. It will still be a fantastic event and well worth everyone supporting us still.”
This year’s event will be officially opened by the Mayor of Broxtowe at 12 noon.
The grand finale will be a firework display at 11.oopm, and Kurt says it is one of the cheapest family event in the area, with children’s entry costing £2 and adults £3.
He added: “This is the cheapest family event in the area, a family of four can get in for £10 and there is a lot of free events, including free laser quest.
“We have the former world’s strongest man, a canine dancing team, local cheerleaders and various local dance groups.”
