Town charity boss chats with Prime Minister

THE CHIEF executive of an Ilkeston-based charity met with the Prime Minister this week to discuss the role of the voluntary sector in transforming public services.

Martin Kinsella, of P3 Social Enterprise in South Street, joined other sector leaders in discussing the issue with David Cameron and senior Government ministers last Wednesday around the Cabinet table at 10 Downing Street.

Delegates provided examples of where public authorities are cutting inappropriately or disproportionately, and where VAT on shared services is causing problems for the sector.

After the meeting Martin said: “P3 wholly endorses the Prime Minister’s view that we are the first sector not the third sector and we look forward to developing an extended role for the sector in public service delivery.”
