Drivers have been asked to brace themselves as four weeks of major roadworks start tomorrow morning (Monday).
Derbyshire County Council workers are resurfacing half a mile of roads in the south of Ilkeston, Stanton and Stanton-by-Dale.
They will also be putting in new kerbs and repairing drains badly damged over recent cold winters.
A county council spokesman said: “During the week there will be temporary traffic lights and there will be road closures at the weekends.”
The roads affected include Ilkeston Road in Stanton-by-Dale and Quarry Hill Road, south from its junction with Merlin Way, in Ilkeston.
