Entreprenuer and television personality Saira Khan is encouraging businesses from her local area of Erewash to enter a special set of awards to honour and celebrate excellence.

Enterprise agency Erewash Partnership is marking its 20th anniversary by organising the awards, the winners of which will be revealed at a dinner to be held at Trent College, Long Eaton, on October 17.

Businesswoman and author Saira, who was born in the town, will be guest speaker at the event.

She shot to fame as runner-up on the first series of television programme The Apprentice in 2005 and is a co-presenter of The Martin Lewis Money Show.

Saira said: “I know that there lots of businesses in and around Erewash which are innovative and supplying good services.”

The awards are for manufacturing excellence, small business, innovation, community commitment, and investment in education and training.

Closing date for entries is September 7.
