Having a closely shaven head in the current cold snap didn’t faze a brave Tesco worker one bit, who was determined to raise thousands of pounds for charity this weekend.
Sam Gilday, 48, shed her locks at the Rutland Street store in front of a crowd of dozens of colleagues and customers to raise cash for Cancer Research and to donate her cut hair to the Little Princesses Trust.
“I shed a few tears afterwards, not because of my hair but for the amazing, overwhelming comments I have had on my Facebook page from people saying how brave I am and I’m an inspiration,” she said.
In the run up to the event, Sam and colleague Sabrina Wolfreys had been asking people to dig deep and they are less than £1,000 short of their target of £5,000 to raise before March. Shoppers can still donate at the store.
