VIDEO: Firefighters splash their way to £880

Ilkeston firefighters put their scrubbing skills to the test when they held a charity car wash at the weekend.

The day, organised by watch manager Dave Stephenson, was a great success and raised £880 for the Firefighters Charity and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Firefighter Michael Daniels, said: “It was busy throughout the day and we would like to thank the people of Ilkeston for their support – it was a good day all round.”

Also helping with the event were fire brigade cadets and representatives from the Teenage Cancer Trust, with refreshments and food supplied by Dominoes Pizza.

Firefighters from three watches took part as well as retained crews.
