A Toyota car salesman spent a whole day in a bath of gunge for Comic Relief - and raised £500 in the process.
Neil Haynes, 53, put aside his normal daily duties at Ron Brooks Toyota, on Derby Road, on Monday.
He instead lounged around in a very relaxing - but disgusting - bath of gunge for the day, as he greeted customers.
He jumped in the tub at 9am and didn’t come out until 2.30pm, having raised £500 from customers in the process.
Neil said: “I gave up selling cars for the day so I have lost some sales, but it’s all for charity. I’d better get back to my desk now and try to sell something,” he added, while wiping goo off his forehead.
Neil also offered to reveal one of his body tattoos for a donation.
“One lady offered me £10, and I’ve had customers coming up and sitting with in shifts to look after me,” he said.
“And it was nice to see Steve Settle from Toyota GB and the owner, Mrs Brooks, come down to see how I was doing.”
Red Nose Day returns on Friday March 13.
Money raised by the public will be spent by Comic Relief in the UK and across Africa, helping vulnerable and disadvantaged people turn their lives around. To find out more, visit rednoseday.com.
A spokesperson for Comic Relief said: “It really couldn’t be easier for the nation to join in the fundraising fun at work, school or home.
“Every person who gets involved will help to change lives forever.”
