A new Ilkeston cafe, officially opened by the Mayor this week, is doing its bit for some of the town’s most isolated residents.
Brown’s Cafe is offering a Sunday dinner delivery service aimed at elderly folk who live on their own.
And owner Kate Kerr has been rushed off her feet with orders in the two weeks the cafe has been open.
“It’s nice to help people in the community – local elderly people who might be on their own – and make sure they have a hot dinner on a Sunday,” she explained.
“But also it’s a bit of a niche for me –I’ve had lots of repeat orders.”
Kate’s cafe in Granby Street also offers hot breakfasts, sandwiches and delivers to workplaces and she has employed two staff part time and is looking to employ a driver.
