Soldiers from the 170 Engineer Group marched through Stapleford on Saturday as part of a parade which exercised their Freedom of Entry granted by Broxtowe Borough Council.
The battalion were joined by the Nottinghamshire Band of Royal Engineers and veterans, and MP for Broxtowe Anna Soubry also attended the parade. She said: “Our soldiers do a remarkable job in the most difficult of circumstances showing great courage in the face of injury and death. The weather was poor, but hundreds of people turned out in Stapleford to welcome 170 infrastructure support group Engineers and thank them.
“It was a great morning and an honour to be there.”
Freedom of Entry is the traditional way for a town to acknowledge the contribution of the armed forces.
