The Spirit of the Blitz was on display as just short of 1,000 visitors flocked to Erewash Museum for its annual 1940s extravaganza – despite the very British weather.
Townsfolk were transported back to wartime with boogie woogie from the Festival Swing Dance Society – and even a speech from Winston Churchill!
Nicola Hall, from the museum, said that the very popular event, now in its third year, is here to stay.
“It’s an annual community event that people look forward to,” she explained.
“It’s got into the local psyche now, I think – I heard people talking about it in the Market Place, saying they were looking out for it this year.
“And it’s so much fun, there’s a real feel-good factor among the visitors – and the staff get a real buzz from that too.”
Despite a few sharp showers on Saturday, the event had its highest number of visitors yet, she added.
