A DRIVER had to be cut out of a car after it swerved off the road in Stanley village on Monday.
Police closed Derby Road for about 90 minutes after the crash at 10am while crews from Ilkeston and Derby fire stations worked to free the female driver from the Peugeot 206 by cutting off its roof.
The crash happened just after a bend in the road.
A male passenger was out of the vehicle and on the grass verge when firefighters arrived.
Ambulance crews administered oxygen and first aid to the two casualties at the scene.
The driver was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham to be treated for her injuries, which a police spokesman said were not thought to be life-threatening.
