STANLEY village’s annual gala day this year raised more than £1,000 for the upkeep of the village hall.
There were plenty of activities on offer at the event on Saturday, including a fancy dress competition, which saw some entrants dressed as flowerpot men.
In the arena, on Stanley Recreation Ground, there were performances from the Flying Angels gymnastic squad, a climbing wall provided by Erewash Borough Council and lots of stalls selling refreshments and other goodies.
During the parade, Carnival Princess Caisten Stevenson, 12, rode on a tractor-hauled trailer with attendants Melissa Smedley, 12, and Molly Harrison, 9.
Pat Carroll, secretary of Stanley Village Community Association, which organises the event, said: “It was a great day with plenty of people out enjoying themselves.”
The association raises money to maintain the village hall.
“But we don’t do it just for the village hall,” she added. “it’s also a great community event for Stanley.”
