CHURCH-GOERS in the Ilkeston area got together on Good Friday to join a silent procession through the town.
The Silent Procession of Witness was attended by dozens of Christians, including Mayor of Erewash Cllr Kevin Miller and Mayoress Jill Miller.
It was led by Rev Michael Pettit of St Mary’s Church Ilkeston, who carried a wooden cross.
The event was to mark Good Friday – the day on which Christians believe Jesus was crucified.
The procession travelled from Ilkeston Salvation Army in Chapel Street, along Bath Street, to the Market Place.
There were then drinks, prayers and hot cross buns at the United Reformed Church in Wharnecliffe Road.
