Derbyshire County Council is urging residents not to get work done by doorstep callers following recent bad weather which may have damaged property.
The council’s trading standards team is concerned about rogue traders calling at homes offering cheap quotes only for work not to be up to scratch.
Cllr Carol Hart, cabinet member for communities, said: “The last couple of weeks may have left residents needing work doing and they may be looking for a plumber, builder or another trader.
“We are urging residents not to agree to a deal on the doorstep as it can be a risky way of getting work done.
“The council runs a Trusted Trader scheme which is a great way of finding a trader.”
