Burglars stole a large amount of jewellery from a house in West Hallam after breaking in through a back window in broad daylight.

Police believe that the offenders forced their way into the house in High Lane East between 10am and 1.30pm on Wednesday, October 1.

A force spokesman said: “They got away with a 18ct gold engagement ring, a 18ct gold plain band wedding ring, a gold ring with pink and purple garnets, and a 18ct gold bracelet with a gold clasp.”

A Raymond Weil ladies’ wristwatch and a Casio watch for men were also among the items stolen along with earrings, necklaces and money.

Police officers investigating the burglary want to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area at the time, or who might have been offered jewellery for sale recently.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 41470/14.

People can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

The total value of the stolen items has not been revealed.
