West Hallam plan shelved

PLANS to build affordable housing on two sites in West Hallam have been put on hold after feedback from local residents.

The proposals at Beech Lane and High Lane West were drawn up by East Midlands Housing Group (EMHG) on behalf of Erewash Borough Council after studies identified a need for affordable property in the area.

Feedback from a public consultation in July has led to the decision to explore other potential sites.

EMHG spokesperson Jim Patman said: “We received numerous suggestions regarding alternative locations for affordable housing in West Hallam, and we have proposed that we should put further investigation of Beech Lane and High Lane West on hold while we investigate these alternatives.”
