Why force resignation?

Now that Baroness Thatcher’s funeral is over and the necessary courtesies have been observed and all appropriate respects and condolences given, one question remains. If her time as Prime Minister was so remarkable that it required the expenditure of upwards of £10 million of taxpayers money on a quasi state funeral, why, exactly, did Conservative MPs, including Cabinet Ministers, have so little confidence in her that they forced her to resign in November 1990?
