A woman was airlifted to hospital after a serious crash in Stanton-by-Dale this morning (Thursday).

The Vauxhall Astra she was driving collided with a Skoda Octavia at about 8.05am in Littlewell Lane.

The fire service had to cut the woman, in her 30s, free from the vehicle before the air ambulance transported her to Stoke University Hospital for treatment.

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said there were patches of black ice on the road this morning but the cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.

The road has now been added to Derbyshire County Council’s list of routes to be gritted, the spokesman added.

It remains closed between the junction of Lows Lane to the top of Littlewell Lane as the Highways Agency clear oil from the carriageway.

The male driver of the Skoda and two teenage girl passengers were not seriously hurt in the crash.
