A woman has been fined for fly tipping in Stapleford.

Kathleen Rooney, of Tudor Close, Newark has been ordered to pay £405.

Evidence was found in the dumped waste that traced back to Miss Rooney who was prosecuted with failing in her duty of care to ensure that waste she produced was collected by a licensed waste carrier and was suitably disposed of.

Miss Rooney entered a guilty plea for an offence under Section 34 Environmental Protection Act 1990 at Nottingham Magistrates Court on July 29.

The waste had been handed by Miss Rooney to a third party who then fly tipped it on Baulk Lane, Stapleford.

Miss Rooney pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a total of £400 which constituted a fine of £100, a £20 victim surcharge and Broxtowe Borough Council was awarded £285 costs.

It is illegal to fly-tip.
