KIND-HEARTED Ilkeston School students have been given an inspirational talk from a world champion bobsledder to spur them on with an Olympian charity effort.
Gold medal winner Nicola Minichiello was at the school on Tuesday to see year 12 students aiming to compete in 20 Olympic events in the run up to the 2012 games to raise cash for charities. The girls’ team is supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care, while the boys are collecting for Right To Play, which helps children torn apart by war.
PE co-ordinator Nicky Godridge said: “It was fantastic to have the opportunity you meet somebody who has obviously strived to get where they are. I’m hoping it has rubbed off on the students.”
