World Record attempt bid

ILKESTON schools are teaming up in a bid to beat an unusual world record this summer – and need the town’s help to pull it off.

Ilkeston School, Larklands Infants, Chaucer Juniors and Infants, Hallam Fields Juniors and Field House Infants are planning to smash the Guinness World Record for the most people taught how to dance Bollywood-style in one place.

On June 28, during Ilkeston Festival 2011, about 3,000 pupils from the schools will gather in Ilkeston Market Place to be taught some moves by Surtal Asian Arts from Derby

A troupe of backing dancers from Ilkeston School will be on hand to make sure the event goes off with a bang.

But first the schools need sponsorship and equipment, including a stage, PA system and printed numbers for every dancer. Call Kate Le Prevost at Ilkeston School on 0115 930 3724 if you can help.
