Young acts Turn It Up

YOUNG bands will be performing around the county in an annual tour supporting new musicians.

The Turn It Up DIY Tour, run by Derbyshire-based Fleet Arts will be coming to Matlock on Sunday and will feature new acts including Riff 1 from Bakewell, Shoot The Poets of Ripley and Rock Melon from Chesterfield as well as established Matlock band Ctrl.

This year each band will be filmed live at the gigs bringing a new visual dimension to the tour.

Footage of all of the bands will be available to download from links on the Turn It Up Myspace.

Many of the bands have also been attending workshops in the run up to the tour in a bid to hone their writing and performance skills and help them come up with new material.

Julian, the Turn it up co-ordinator, says; "We are pleased to be running another tour and we hope that this year more people than ever will attend.

"All of the bands are very enthusiastic and are working hard to put on some memorable shows."

The tour began on February 20 and will close with the gig in Matlock on Sunday at the Imperial Rooms.

Doors open at 6.30pm. The event will finish at 10.15pm.

Tickets are 3 on the door

Fleet Arts help local groups develop arts projects and is funded by Derbyshire County Council. The first Turn it Up DIY tour took place in spring 2007.
