Have your say

THIS week we are starting our final push to gather even more signatures in our fight to secure a new train station for Ilketon.

Our ‘Get Ilkeston Back on Track’ campaign has been running since late 2010 and during that time we have collected over 1,400 names but we still want more.

Next week I will be travelling to Downing Street with Erewash MP Jessica Lee to hand our petition over to the Department of Transport so this is really your last chance to get your name on the list of people fighting for our town.

And in a bid to boost our numbers even more we will be running a special campaign stall on Ilkeston Market Place this Saturday from 9.30am-1.30pm to encourage even more of Ilkeston’s townsfolk to put their name on the petition.

So this is your chance to try and make a difference.

If you haven’t done your bit yet then make sure you do before it is too late.

Simply fill out the petition slip below and send it to Ilkeston Advertiser, 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8ER, before next Thursday.

Or you can come and see us on Saturday morning on Ilkeston Market Place and put your name down then.

And to make it even easier we have also put our petition slip on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/ilkestonadvertiser so you can print off petition slips yourselves to get them filled in before bringing them into our office.

I would urge anybody who wants a train station in Ilkeston to make sure they fill out our petition slip this week.

This will be the last time we run it in the paper so if you don’t do it now, there won’t be time later.

We can’t promise success. But what we can promise is that we tried our best and we need all of you to do your bit too.

It is vital that as many people as possible support this campaign if they want to see a train station brought to Ilkeston.

If we want this dream to become a reality then it is up to us to stand up for our town and tell the powers-that-be that we want this.

This petition will be the cornerstone proving that our town really supports this bid and really wants to see this train station built.

So don’t leave it any longer. This is the last chance to add your name before the petition is submitted so make sure you don’t miss your name off.

The power is in your hands to make a difference so do it now before it is too late.
