Alfreton and Ilkeston fought out a goalless draw in the FA Cup third qualifying round on Saturday.
FULL TIME ALFRETON 0 ILKESTON 0Both teams had their chances but no goals scored in the end so everybody will head to the New Manor Ground in Ilkeston on Tuesday night, 7.45pm kick off, for the replay. Kev Miles has named Kris Bow
ler as the Alfreton man of the match and Sam Duncum as star man for Ilkeston.
89 mins – with a minute to go Ilkeston take off Anthony Howell and send on Stephen Istead. There will be three added minutes.
86 mins – BOOKING Ilkeston's Anthony Church wrestles Clayton to the ground rugby league style and picks up a yellow card. Bowler drills the free kick straight at Adamson.
85 mins – Duncum has a shot blocked at the end of a mazy run. Ilkeston are finishing the game the stronger.
"It was a long way from the press benches so it is hard to see if it went over the line but it was a real scramble and it looked very close to me." Kev Miles, Ripley and Heanor News Sport Editor82 mins – BOOKING Ilkeston Town are celebrating but the referee is having none of it – a looping header by Douglas from a deep cross beats Evans but Douglas ends up in the back of the net without the ball. Amari Morgan-Smith follows it up and seems to have forced the ball across the line despite desperate defending by Matt Wilson. The Ilkeston fans and players are adamant the ball crossed the line but the referee shows little interest. Ben Muirhead storms down the other end on the counter attack and Tom Jones is booked for a horrible tackle on him. Amber Valley will have a team in the fourth round regardless of the result of this tie, Wilson and Walker have fired in two quick goals and Belper lead Prescot Cables 4-1 now.
78 mins – another shot straight at Adamson by Muirhead after a flick on by Leo Fortune West.
75 mins - while play is stopped for an injury I'll take this opportunity to remind you that if, as seems increasingly likely, this finishes 0-0 these teams will meet again in the replay on Tuesday night at the New Manor Ground.
"Ilkeston have just had ten minutes of really good pressure. Alfreton will hope that bringing Clayton on will turn things back their way," Kev Miles, Ripley and Heanor News Sport Editor.70 mins – Ilkeston have just gone very close, Amari-Smith takes a lick of paint off the outside of the post with a low shot that had Evans well beaten.
68 mins – Nicky Law senses Ilkeston may be getting the upper hand here and has changed his strike force around with Paul Clayton replacing Brian Cusworth.
66 mins – 820 is the official attendance, Alfreton's best of the season by some distance. Tom Jones has just fired the ball high over the bar for Ilkeston.
64 mins – BOOKING Second card of the game, Ben Muirhead of Alfreton gets the yellow card for a late lunge on Sam Duncum.
60 mins – Duncum forces Alfreton keeper Evans into a save at the near post with a low drive. Chesterfield have equalised against Chester at Saltergate. If you're looking for a candidate for miss of the season be sure to see Chris Iwelumo's howler for Scotland against Norway, still 0-0 there and George Burley looks like a man under pressure.
57 mins – David Holdsworth has made his first substitution of the game and brought on his leading scorer Amari Morgan-Smith, eight goals already this season, for Curtis Shaw.
53 mins Make that 2-1 to Belper, Walker with a defelected shot.
50 mins – Alfreton have picked up where they left off in the first half with Ben Muirhead trying two hopeful shots on goal both comfortably dealt with by Adamson. Bad news from Belper, Prescot Cables have equalised, 1-1 at Christchurch Meadow.
The teams are back out and there is one change at half time, Matt Wilson replaces the concussed Anton Brown at left back for Alfreton. Wilson was recalled from loan at Worksop earlier in the week. Still no sign of Ilkeston top scorer Morgan-Smith, here's a reminder of the line ups.
Alfreton - Tom Evans, Josh Law, Tony Butler, Martin McIntosh, Anton Brown (Matt Wilson, 46), Danny Davidson, Tom Curtis (captain), Ben Muirhead, Kris Bowler, Leo Fortune West, Brian Cusworth
Subs – Danny Mayman, Paul Clayton, Kyle Sutcliffe (GK)
Bookings – Bowler (14 mins)
Ilkeston - Chris Adamson, Lee Thompson (captain), Paul Hurst, Rob Scott, Tom Jones, Keiran Murphy, Curtis Shaw, Anthony Church, Anthony Howell, Jon Douglas, Sam Duncum
Subs – Amari Morgan-Smith, Ben Pringle, Dean Gordan, Dan Haystead (GK) Stephen Istead
Referee - Andrew Madley (Osset)
Half time – Alfreton 0 Ilkeston 0Matlock are losing 2-1 to Osset at half time, Belper are still winning 1-0, Scotland are being held 0-0 by Norway who have had the better of that game.
"Alfreton have improved as the half has gone on, Duncum should have got his header on target after 15 minutes but by the end of the half Ilkeston were struggling to get the ball clear. At the moment plenty of endeavour from both teams but few clear cut chances," Kev Miles, Ripley and Heanor News Sports Editor45 mins – One minute of added time at the end of the first half, could have been five or six times that with all the time the referee has spent talking to players. The latest incident sees Kris Bowler lectured, and he must be careful after picking up a booking earlier in the half. In the last action of the half both sides put dangerous crosses into the box, a flap by Tom Evans isn't punished by Ilkeston then at the other end Law's low centre goes all the way through the area without a touch.
40 mins – Alfreton will wonder how on earth they are not in front. Danny Davidson's powerful shot was blocked on the line by Jones, in the ensuing scramble Kris Bowler thumped a 25 yarder against the under side of the bar, the ball came down on the line and Ilkeston hacked it away. Ilkeston would take the half time whistle now if it was offered.
34 mins – Alfreton are starting to turn the screw a little bit now, Cusworth denied a spectacular overhead kick by a last ditch clearance and then beaten in the air as the ball was knocked back into the area.
33 mins – The best move of the game so far sees Davidson and Bowler combine to set Brown up for a shot straight at Adamson in the Ilkeston goal. More whistle though almost straight away, a harsh decision against Church.
29 mins – Our referee is now speaking to Leo Fortune West for a late challenge – the game still struggling to flow with too much whistle from the official.
25 mins – There could be an upset on the cards down the road as Belper have taken the lead against Prescot Cables, Lee Stevenson with the goal there. Chesterfield are losing at home again, 1-0 to Chester, and Mike Newell has wasted no time in making an impact at Grimsby they are beating Wycombe 1-0.
22mins - Alfreton's Josh Law is spoken to by the referee for a rash tackle on Howell.
"Ilkeston are getting a lot of joy down the Alfreton right with Howell against Law, Howell is showing a good turn of pace and Law is struggling to contain him. Very even game so far apart from that." Kev Miles, Ripley and Heanor News Sport Editor15 mins - Best chance of the match for Ilkeston, Duncum was left all alone and unmarked at the back post under a high, hanging cross. His header went about a foot wide of the post and he'll definitely be disappointed with that after scoring against Osset during the week.
14 mins – BOOKING First card of the match. Alfreton's Kris Bowler, a fiery midfield player signed last summer from Matlock Town, gets the first card of the game for a late tackle.
11 mins – Scrappy stuff so far in truth. Neither keeper has made a serious save and the game is being regularly punctuated by free kicks awarded by our somewhat whistle happy referee – Howell is getting nothing for a theatrical fall in the Alfreton penalty box though.
3 mins – The teams have traded early attacks, Evans made a comfortable save from Curtis Shaw then Ilkeston struggled to clear from a Josh Low cross and a half hearted appeal for a handball penalty was ignored by our referee Mr Madley. The resulting corner was cleared by Duncum.
15:00 We're all set for kick off, Alfreton in their red home strip, Ilkeston in a blue and black striped shirts. We shall endeavour to keep you up to date with the Belper and Scotland matches also taking place at the same time, a man looking very much like Father Christmas in tartan trousers is currently belting our Flower of Scotland at Hampden Park.
14.45 On the Ilkeston bench is the much travelled Dean Gordan – Ilkeston are his 19th different club in a career that has taken him from Middlesbrough to New Zealand. During his time at Crystal Palace he was sent off in an FA Cup fifth round replay against Arsenal at Selhurst Park.
"There are no easy games in the FA Cup and this is a big one. Alfreton have a wealth of experience to call upon and a manager who knows how to win but we have a young side who are really looking forward to it." Ilkeston Town manager David Holdsworth"This is a big fixture for both clubs. Obviously it's going to be a big occasion for the supporters but we will approach it as any other game and it's all about what we do and how we perform on the day." Alfreton manager Nicky Law.14.40 Ilkeston Town have twice reached the second round proper of this competition. In the 1999/00 season they defeated Carlisle before going out to Rushden and Diamonds. In 1997/98 they took Scunthorpe United to a replay before losing 2-1 at The New Manor ground – keeping goal for Alfreton this afternoon is Tom Evans who was on the Scunthorpe bench for both those matches. Alfreton reached the first round proper in 2004/05 and lost to League Two side Macclesfield after a replay.
14.30 The teams are in and the big news is Ilkeston's leading scorer Amari Morgan-Smith only makes the bench for the visitors, it seems he is suffering with an injury. Nicky Law has recalled Ben Muirhead and Tony Butler to his team following the disappointing defeat to ten man Droylsden last weekend.
