SANDIACRE Town missed a chance to keep up with the leading pack as they fell at home to Quarndon on Saturday.
Both of these sides now sit in mid-table, with Quarndon having found form after a slow start.
The home team batted first but stuttered along, losing all their wickets for 201 runs.
Akhil Patel produced the best batting performance with 44, with
David Jordison also hitting a notable 30.
Top bowlers for Quarndon were James Blackwell with 4 for 65 and James Ede 4 for 62.
In reply, Ede was again the man Quarndon had to thank as his fine knock of 73, aided by Robin Williamson’s 34 not out, helped the visitors to victory.
Sandiacre’s second XI didn’t fare much better but were at least able to claim a losing draw away at Alvaston & Boulton.
The hosts took first knock and star of the show was David Lewis, whose 107 not out was the key to Alvaston’s innings.
Waseem Mohammed fell one short of a half-century but the total of 245-5 was going to be tough for Sandiacre to match.
And so it proved, as despite keeping three wickets intact they faltered to 167-7, though had good innings from Ian Hopkins (44) and Chris Attwood (58) to be thankful for.
The thirds had more success as they earned a comfortable win at Sawley & Long Eaton Park.
Paul Chambers’ 36 and Jon Gauntley with 34 not out were the key contributors as Sandiacre reached 194-7 from their allotted overs.
Sawley struggled to get going in their reply, and with good bowling from Michael Warton (3-28) and Paul White (3-26) Town were able to bowl out their hosts for 136.
This weekend sees the firsts host Spondon, who currently sit second in the Premier League table.
The seconds will face the same opposition but away from home, while the thirds are entertaining Mugginton.
On Sunday, the first XI can move a step closer to playing at Lords when they travel to York in the Group Three final of the Cockspur Cup, the winners progressing to the national quarter-finals.
