Action-packed day in store as Trinity play host

Trinity ABC’s boxers have a big day in store this weekend when the club hosts its next event at Trowell’s Festival Inn on Sunday afternoon.

Five of the club’s boxers will feature in the East Midlands prelims of the National Novice Championships.

All will feature in the under ten bout category against the best from the region.

Jack Harrison will be in the super heavyweight division while Sam Bates is in at light heavyweight.

There are two middleweight entries with Zak Smedley and Callum Perrott ready to contest a very large entry at this popular weight and Sam Patchitt will contest the light middleweight division.

All have completed an intense training programme and are in confident mood as they get the chance to shine in front of their own fans.

Boxing is due to start at 1pm with entry to the venue available from noon. Entry is by payment at the door at £10 for adults and £5 under 16.

Coach Scott Rafferty said: “All these lads are ready to go and all are guaranteed to fight on the day and will benefit from the extra support of the Ilkeston boxing fans.”

Meanwhile, Trinity Boxing Club will be well represented when Derbyshire ABA hold their first Junior squad session of the new season.

Three of the club’s talented young boxers will be part of a 15-man elite squad selected to represent the county in the new season .

New county coach David Leech will get the chance to observe the squad he has selected for the first time and the Trinity lads will be determined to make their mark.
