LONG Eaton jet-skier Anya Colley has continued a fine 2011 by claiming two more national titles.
Anya, 19, who competes all over the world on her 750cc four stroke Hydrospace Ski, competed in the British Jet Ski Championships and took two national titles despite being the only female in both the classes in which she was successful.
She won the British Ski Stock Class, where all the skis have to stay as bought from the maufacturers, and the British Ski Limited Class, where you can do certain modifications.
In the Limited class Anya won 17 out of 18 of her races with the other race being a second place, thus scoring a remarkable 1,073 out of a possible 1,080 points.
Her success added to that achieved at the final round of the European Championships in Belgium a fortnight ago, where she secured the IJSBA European Ladies title.
Anya has been riding jet skis since the age of five but started racing in 2005, and since then she has secured many championships including seven world titles
One of Derbyshire’s Talented Athlete Fund members, she was also awarded earlier in the year the Royal Yachting Associations East Midlands Young Sailor of the Year – the first time this award has ever gone to a jet skier – and was a runner-up in the Ilkeston Advertiser’s Sportswoman of the Year category.
