BOXING DAY MATCH PREVIEW - Mickleover Sports v lkeston FC

Mickleover Sports and Ilkeston FC will meet for the first time in a competitive match when they go head-to-head on Boxing Day.

The two sides have played each other in pre-season friendlies but not in league fixtures, the Derby-based side having been relegated from the Northern Premier League Premier Division the season Ilkeston were promoted from Division One South.

Promotion back to the Premier Division came last season and they’ve since had a mixed start to the campaign, currently sitting in 18th place and seven points clear of the relegation zone after a promising start, teams below them having as many as six games in hand.

Managed by Craig Hopkins and Glen Kirkwood, they have lost their last three league games, a 4-1 defeat at Buxton last Saturday being their latest reverse.

Ilkeston, meanwhile, continue to battle for a place in the top five, their 0-0 draw with Marine last weekend extending an impressive unbeaten home run.

Their last away game saw them beaten 3-2 at Workington.
